Illinois Nursing CE Requirements
Total Hours Required: 20
Renewal Cycle: 2 yrs
Nurses shall complete 20 hours of approved continuing education per 2 year license renewal cycle. All CE must be completed in the 24 months preceding expiration of the license.
Beginning January 1, 2020, all RNs shall complete a one (1) hour CE course in sexual harassment training each 2-year license renewal cycle, so that 1 of the 20 hours of required CE must be a sexual harassment prevention training course.
Beginning January 1, 2022, all RNs shall complete a one (1) hour CE course in Implicit Bias training each 2-year license renewal cycle, so that 1 of the 20 hours of required CE must be an Implicit Bias training course for Illinois.
Beginning May 31, 2024, all RNs shall complete a one (1) hour CE course in diagnosis, treatment and care of Alzheimer's disease, along with other dementia types. One of the 20 hours of required CE must be an Alzheimer's training course for Illinois.
